2012 Chevy Equinox GM’s SUV Best Seller To-Be
The 2011 Chevy equinox was a fantastic seller for General Motors this year. Almost 130,000 units were sold through the end of August 2011. The 2012 Chevy Equinox shows every sign of improving on that record.
The 2012 version retails for $24,260 at the low end with a four cylinder engine. The higher end version that sports a 3 L V-6 motor with 264 hp is higher at $27,280. The equivalent Hyundai SUV with a V-6 engine is at $25,935 and 2012 for Explorer is selling for $28,995 for the version with the V-6 290 hp engine.
The Equinox is a five passenger vehicle with two rows of seats, while the Explorer is longer and comes with an extra row of seats. The interior feels roomy with ample leg room in both the front and the back. The Equinox is classified as a crossover vehicle, because it is more car like them truck like for an SUV. It’s drive testifies to the fact with a relatively quiet ride and easy steering.
Officially, the V-6 version of the SUV gets 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The 4 liter V4 engine does better at 22 mpg in the city and 32 on the highway. The Equinox in all its versions comes with a 6 speed automatic transmission.
