2012 Honda Pilot – Subtle Tweaks for a Subtle Package
Honda have clearly been playing around with the Pilot SUV for its 2012 incarnation, though thankfully they have not succeeded in wrecking what has always been a superb package. That being said, they also haven’t done a great deal to add an arguably needed touch of beauty.
In a nutshell, the automotive heavyweight has rearranged a number of key controls, added refinements and upgrades to the trim and brought about some much needed changes to the interior. Such improvements are certainly not of the caliber to see floating voters instantly reaching into their pockets, nor on the other hand are they minimal enough to put them off.
Likewise, the front styling has been tweaked, seeing the grille replaced that had previously looked like a rather unattractive oversized heating element. The new example is hugely improved, though again is neither a reason to fall in love with or shun the 2012 Honda Pilot.
Even the bumped up fuel economy has followed suit, offering approximately another mile or two per gallon, which although similar to most vehicles in the high teens is nothing to write home about. Again, an improvement but not enough to call a selling point.
Of course, the Pilot really has little prove or indeed much of a reason to change given the overall package having been welcomed by drivers to quite some time now, though it has to be said that excitement is not something to be expected.
All in all, the 2012 Honda Pilot is as functional and useful as a wooden wardrobe, though perhaps less thrilling.
