Having suffered enormously from the earthquake and resulting Tsunami in Japan earlier this year, not to mention the fiasco caused by claims of accelerator issues, the company has retained both its reputation and standing as quite simply the buyer’s choice when it comes to this particular vehicle class.

Putting the troubles of the past to rest and looking ever forward, the 2012 Camry has retained its appeal as the quintessential family car, though has been afforded enough tweaks and options to broaden its target market hugely, including the sport SE model and the hybrid.

As usual, those expecting to be entirely bowled over by with the style of the Camry may have their hopes pegged in the wrong auto, but the 2012 design is both stylish enough to attract a new crowd and true enough to its traditions to retain existing devotees.

Toyota have also made moves toward promoting their new approach of keeping it simple, as the 2011 Camry could technically be ordered in 1,246 ways – the 2012 Camry can be ordered in just 36.

Since first going into production, the Camry has shifted no less than 6.5 million vehicles in the US alone, with Toyota claiming that over 90% of those sold in the past 15 years are still going strong on the road today.
