4G wireless technology facing obstacles
The groundbreaking 4G wireless technology was introduced in Scandinavia last December, and it’s still waiting for the big break.
According to telecom analyst Gregor Johansson, the real burst of this new technology will be around 2012-2013.
He added the technology kicked-off slowly due to the lack of compatible hardwares and investmens and also the current global economic crisis has a major impact by holding it back.
TeliaSonera, the Swedish-Finnish company which provides 4G technology recently announced that only 1000 consumers from Stockholm and Oslo subscribed so far for the technology out of the estimated 400 000.
4G technology is only adapted for internet connections so far as phone manufacturers are still waiting for the big US and Japanese markets to launch 4G networks before creating compatible hardwares – Lars Klasson, TeliaSonera’s vice-president announced.
Analysts are certain that 4G technology will take the world by storm in the next couple of years and they forecast about 400 million 4G users by 2015.
One of the largest Swedish company, Ericsson expects that the number of mobile broadband internet users will lift from todays 400 million to 3,5 billion till 2015.
