$99 Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet PC to Arrive in the US
The Chinese tablet PC, called Novo7 is expected to arrive in the US in the first quarter of 2012, reports say. The 7-inch tablet PC armed with the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system will cost $99 according to sources.
The tablet could shake up the whole market as much as the Amazon Kindle Fire did when it was launched by the American retailer. Loved for its cheap price tag, the Kindle Fire is doing well in the market. Analysts are divided whether the Chinese tablet will be as successful as the Kindle Fire or any of its competitors.
The device is equipped with a MIPS XBurst 1Ghz CPU and also has a rear camera and one on the front for video chat. According to sources, the tablet PC also has 3D capability, an HDMI port, 1080p video decoding and a good 8 hours for video playback. The screen is multitouch capable and as mentioned before, has the latest version of the Android OS unlike other budget-friendly tablets that usually run on older Android operating systems.
Ainol Electronics, the company that produces the tablet, already had the device certified by Google, an indication of its seriousness in entering the US market.
