Amazon Kindle Fire Could Outsell iPad
Amazon’s new Kindle Fire is continuing to sell as a staggering pace across the US, though it remains to be seen whether or not it will catch up with the so far unstoppable pace of the Apple iPad.
Just six days after its official launch online, for preorder at least, the Kindle Fire is selling approximately 20,000 units every day, according to a leading market research firm. Reports on Monday suggested that the Kindle Fire had sold no less than 95,000 units on the first day alone, amounting to a total as of today of approximately 215,000.
However, other blogs dedicated to the Google Android platform have suggested that the figures could be much higher, stating that around 50,000 per day have been preordered. The Android source in question went on to make the bold claim that such numbers could very well put the Kindle Fire on course to take the title of fastest an biggest selling tablet in history, beating both versions of the iPad in first month sales.
Of course, official figures are yet to be made public, with the Kindle Fire being expected to hit the shelves and ship from November 15th.
Apple sold approximately 1 million units of the iPad 2 over its first weekend following launch, adding up to around 2.4 million over the course of the month. As such, there is still plenty of time for the Kindle to rack up the numbers and perhaps challenge Apple like none have ever quite managed before.
