kindle versions 300x222 Amazon Kindle Fire Followed by Two Larger Tablets in Early 2012 – Current Kindle Fire Being Sold Below Price of ProductionWhile the dust is yet to begin settling following the release of the Kindle Fire this month, rumor has it that Amazon is already preparing not one, but two successors to the budget-busting tablet.

The incredibly successful Kindle Fire saw its launch in early November, sporting a superb 7-inch touchscreen – admittedly lagging behind the 9.7 inches of the iPad 2. However, according to the latest reports to surface from within the industry, Amazon has every intention of playing catch-up in the very near future.

An article published this week by a highly credible source in Taiwan has suggested that Amazon is underway in the preparation of two new models of the Kindle Fire, one sporting an 8.9 inch screen and another with a striking 10.1 inch screen. Evidence for the suggestions is said to come from the component supply chain, while forecasts have pegged the next in the Kindle Fire line as likely to arrive as early as the second quarter of 2012.

Of course, such a quick succession of launches would usually appear a little strange, but is not unusual for Amazon who released the big screen Kindle DX for example just months after the Kindle 2.

Meanwhile, a separate report from a well-rejected research firm has suggested that Amazon is in fact losing money on every Kindle Fire sold – calling the campaign as a whole a direct shot at Apple and the sovereignty of the iPad. However, while the massive popularity of the Kindle Fire may be seen as a significant threat, it may in fact contain a silver lining for Apple that few realize.

Over the coming months, it is likely that the Kindle fire will all but shatter the hopes of countless other second-tier tablets currently doing the rounds from other key manufacturers, resulting in a two-horse race where Apple will continue to enjoy huge reverence and equally huge sales.
