Amazon Kindle Fire Sales Estimates Top 4 Million – A Concern for the Apple iPad?
Despite the fact that only 24 hours had passed since the Amazon Kindle Fire saw its official public launch, analysts were already setting in stone their own estimates for total holiday season sales. According to the estimates, Amazon are likely to sell upwards of 2.5 million units of the Kindle Fire during the fourth quarter alone, which of course should be significant enough to make a mark in the current market segment being dominated by Apple – albeit a modest mark.
However, some analysts have gone a little further to estimate up to 4 million unit sales for the same quarter, so would this impact the sovereignty of the iPad and the iPad 2?
The boost in estimated sales has of course been born form a combination of the incredibly low $199 purchase price of the Kindle Fire – which actually sees Amazon losing money with each unit sold – along with incredibly varied and user-friendly features.
That being said, there may really be very little reason for Apple to be particularly worried at least for the immediate future, as there is no possible way that their own products will not see hugely increased sales as tablet PC-mania well and truly takes its grip over the holiday seasons. According to multiple studies, tablet PCs have surpassed every other gadget and toy to become the number one item of choice for Christmas 2011, across almost every age group.
Furthermore, with sales of over 32 million already under its belt and a level of hype that seems to be going nowhere, the iPad is certainly unlikely to lay down and play dead before the Kindle Fire at any time soon.
