Apple iPad 2, iPod Touch and iPhone Most Sought-After Electronics by Children
Apple’s iPad is the most highly sought-after electronic device/product by children aged 6 to 12 years, according to recently released data.
The research organization behind the study found that not only did up to 44% of children rank the iPad and iPad 2 as number 1 on their list of desired electronics, but two other Apple products by way of the iPhone and the iPod Touch also ranked within the top 3. Indeed, 30% of those studied were hoping for an iPod Touch, while 27% wanted an iPhone.
Furthermore, the study also went on to reveal that interest in the iPad has increased 6% since 2010, in the market demographic aged 13 years and older. This year saw keen interest levels of 24%, compared to the 18% of last year.
Games consoles were of course also among the ranks of the most highly desirable gadgets, with the Nintendo 3DS, Kinect for Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS all achieving 25%, 23% and 22% respectively.
Most US retailers are currently selling the iPad 2 for around the $500 mark, which of course may price the device well out of the realistic expectations of many families. However, the Amazon Kindle Fire is said to deliver around 80% or more of the functionality and entertainment of the iPad 2 at a price of just $199, therefore it is widely predicted that Apple may suffer a rather large dent in holiday sales and indeed those of Black Friday as Kindle Fire hysteria really begins to take hold.
