The Argentine national team has won 1-0 its opening group match against Nigeria on Saturday in the South African World Cup. Argentina in the past (1978, 1986) won the World Cup two times and it’s considered as one of the tournament favorites.

Diego Maradona’s team – with many superstars lined up among the starters – kicked off the match with storming attacks, first Messi and then Higuain had chances to score but they missed, however shortly after defender Gabriel Heinze took the advantage for Argentina with a brilliant header. At this time it seemed Argentina may score many goals in this match, but eventually it didn’t happen.

Although, Argentina kept attacking but Messi and his teammates missed the chances several times in checkmate situations or Nigerian goalkeeper, Enyeama saved successfully. The Nigerians even had some big chances to draw the game later on, but it appeared that they didn’t focus enough in finishing attacks.
