As iPhone 5 Release Date Draws Near iPhone 4 Something Possible Again
A number of sources have speculated that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will release the long awaited iPhone 5 in mid-October and Sprint has been very active in promoting the new phone. Sprint is pinning a lot of hopes on the smartphone and will be one of the principle initial outlets for the device.
There have been rumors of a cheap iPhone, a lightened version of the existing iPhone 4 since the spring. Now there is increased speculation by some analysts that not only does the new device exist, but that it will be released at the same time as its big brother the iPhone 5.
The new iPhone 4, perhaps the 4 Plus, is thought to be a midrange offering initially targeting the Chinese market and then to be offered elsewhere. While the specs are unknown for either phone, the midrange phone is likely to incorporate some new technology but won’t get the big upgrades expected for the iPhone 5.
The iPhone 5 for its part is likely to use the same processor as the iPad 2. The big processor will drive graphics on the phone’s high res Retina display. It is also likely that along with a faster processor will be more on board memory which is pretty much the way of computer upgrades. Most are hoping for a revised, more modernistic, form factor for the phone.
