asus eee pad1 300x300 ASUS Transformer Prime Users Unhappy about GPS PerformanceASUS has finally sent out its Transformer Prime tablet to consumers after having issues about the device’s hardware prior to the official release. However, it seems the company’s troubles are far from over.

The Transformer Prime TF201 comes with many new features and one of it is the GPS facility which allows the device to point out geo-locations based on satellite information. However, the kink has been a source of dour reception than it is a fanciful perk to many of its new found users.

As it is, ASUS still stands to provide a proper and adequate solution to the problem at hand. One of the few “tinkerings” that they have provided to help allay the issue temporarily is to enable the Wifi on the device. This method allows geographical IP location information to give the device an idea as to where the current user is. This is said to aid Google Location Services’ GPS triangulation much easier than just with the GPS alone.

One of the speculated reasons as to why this came to be is due to the Transformer Prime’s form casing. The unibody of the device is made of metallic material which could potentially hinder signal reception from satellites.

Interestingly, ASUS has decided to take down the GPS feature of its device from its sensor specs and functionality upon encountering the problem. With that, it should be noted that the Transformer Prime is not a GPS device per se and could be subject to inefficiency when obstructions brought by a user’s environment are present like weather, buildings, etc.
