BP gas stations damaged due to oil crisis
Numerous gas stations of BP were damaged in the United States, supposedly the violent strikes against the stations happened due to the oil catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico.
From several BP gas stations abuses were reported as emotions roll up because of the United States’ biggest oil crisis that happened in the Gulf.
In Southaven, along the 51th highway at a petrol station the building’s windows were shot. From the station nothing was stolen. The local staff is convinced that the vandalism was fueled by the growing American discontent against BP.
Reports of abuses against BP came from a number of states. In New York several gas stations were damaged as well, in many places company label was ruined or trash was thrown around the stations’ area.
The U.S. government and the press both believe that BP is responsible for causing the biggest oil catastrophe in the history of United States. The oil is still flowing into the sea since 51 day, the leakage still hasn’t stopped yet.
BP petrol is selling in 12 thousand gas stations in the United States, however the British company owns only a fraction of stations, most of them are in the hands of U.S. contractors.
The Obama-government is more and more firm against BP. Attorney, Eric Holder has stated on Thursday: the government will take the necessary steps to ensure that the Americans do not have to pay the costs of remediation and clean-up. He declared that BP is responsible for the incurring expenses. “I can assure American people that they won’t pay a single cent for clean-up operations, BP is responsible for all damages”.
BP’s CEO, Tony Hayward next week will participate in a hearing in the U.S. Congress, the subject will be BP’s responsibility in the oil catastrophe.
