Does child’s eye color clearly prove paternity?
Blue-eyed men prefer blue-eyed women – say Norwegian scientists, who explained this with the fact that in this case the child’s eye color clearly prove parternity.
As the researchers from University of Tromso claimed in the Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology journal, a blue-eyed father and a blue-eyed mother can only have blue-eyed child, if a brown-eyed baby borns in such relationship, then not the blue-eyed man is the father.
For the brown-eyed people it’s not that easy, because they can have blue-eyed child even if the mother’s eye color is brown. The brown eye color is dominant: these people possess the brown and blue eyes genetic material, but only pass one of them to their children.
The researchers asked 88 students – boys and girls – to indicate which faces they find attractive from the ones that were shown on the screen, and they picked the same faces with blue and brown eyes as well.
Blue-eyed women didn’t make a preference over blue or brown-eyed men, and the same was the case with the brown-eyed men, but the blue-eyed men found blue-eyed women more attractive than brown-eyed ones.
The researchers ruled out that this could be traced back to some kind of prejudice, because in this case blue-eyed ladies would have received priority.from brown-eyed men. The hypothesis is also supported by another study: 443 young man and woman were asked to announce their partner’s eye color and it was found out that blue-eyed men formed the largest group, where the partner’s eye colour was the same as the questioned person’s eye colour.
And what about the green-eyed people? With them, unfortunately, did not deal the study.
