The manufacturer already launched two new tablet devices earlier this year, by way of two versions of the ThinkPad tablet PC. Of course, tablets from Lenovo running Windows and offering touchscreen functions are less than a new concept, but the latest iteration does not fit such a description – this is to be the first Lenovo ThinkPad to ship with Android.

Spec-wise, the new ThinkPad is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor, backed by 1GB of RAM and offering 32GB of onboard storage. Twin-cameras grace the casing, which also houses a 10.1 inch screen with resolution of 1280 x 800 – protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The Android Honeycomb 3.1 tablet retails for $530, or can also be taken with 16GB storage for $430, or 64GB for $630.

So, how exactly does the latest ThinkPad weigh up against the competition? Well, looking at the device in its own right it certainly delivers the goods, but if as seems to be the case across the board it is held against the likes of the iPad, crack inevitably begin to show.

In a nutshell, the ThinkPad provides an excellent range of ports and options for expansion, while the pre-loaded business apps are truly superb and the display of excellent quality.

On the downside, it is a little on the thick and heavy side, the audio quality is rather poor and battery life could stand to be improved.
