Halloween Flavors, Costumes and Candies
It is that time of year again; Halloween decorations and preparations are full blown. Recent surveys show that 70% of the USA population will hit the streets on Halloween night. 49.3% will be dressing up as in their favorite costumes, while 32.9% will be taking their kids around the streets trick-or-treating. It has been estimated that over 1 billion dollars will be spent on costumes alone. Surveys have even shown that pet owners will be spending 300 million dollars on costumes for there furry friends. However these estimates are for costumes alone, the projected total for all Halloween related spending is 6.86 billion dollars. The average consumer will be spending over 72 dollars a piece for Halloween related products. (Candy, costumes, decorations, etc.)
According to the most popular costume websites, Smurfs costumes are projected to be the most popular of all this year. Along with the loveable blue Smurfs, Barbie, Optimus Prime, panda, flight attendant, and gypsy will be extremely popular. Also Zombies will be returning to fashion again. Other then these new projections, the traditional witches, and ghosts will always be in.
What Halloween candy should be in this year? Last year the most popular types of candy included, Reese’s peanut butter cups, Willy Wanka candies, Hershey Kiss, Kit Kat, pop rocks, Nestle Crunch, and last but not least M&M’s. Halloween may be considered a holiday in which the scariness is the main factor, but ask any child who is dressed up for Halloween and they will tell you they are in it for the candy.
