HTC Edge to be World’s First Quad-Core Smartphone – iPhone 5 to Follow Suit in 2012
According to the latest reports to emerge from within the industry, the upcoming HTC Edge may be the very first Smartphone in the world to boast a quad-core processor.
Until relatively recently, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which was previously known as the Nexus Prime, was thought to be the most likely contender for the very first inclusion of a quad-core chip, but its official unveiling confirmed that it would instead be afforded a comparatively modest dual-core processor.
As such, the HTC Edge may be well and truly lined up to steal the spotlight and take the title as first Smartphone in the world to pack quad-core processing power.
In addition, not only will the upcoming Edge feature the most powerful processor in the world, but it will also surpass the Nexus in another department, by sporting a 4.7 inch screen as opposed to its rival’s 4.65 inches.
Needless to say, HTC has every intention of making the Edge the new flagship device of the brand, boasting a 720p display, 1GB of dedicated RAM, advanced 8 megapixel camera, 32GB of storage and the same Beats by Dr. Dre audio technology as found in the HTC Rezound.
HTC devotees and indeed the insatiably power-hungry can expect a launch in the first quarter of 2012, according to the same report.
In other news, the iPhone 5 is also pegged as a possible for quad-core processing technology, when its elusive release date finally comes about in the late spring of 2012.
