iphone narrowweb 300x3582 251x300 iOS 5.0.1 Update for iPhone 4S – iPhone 5 Release Date Still a MysteryThe iPhone 5 release date still continues to prove the most elusive perhaps in the history of the Smartphone industry, though Apple have at least thrown iPhone 4S devotees a modest bone to keep them busy, by way of iOS 5.0.1. Needless to say, the reason for the update is nothing quite so close to the wonderfully kind gesture we would all like, but instead a requirement to clear up an apparent battery issue a small number of users had reported.

Of course, the battery issues have been officially refuted by independent consumer tests and experts alike, but in order to silence the disgruntled few, the update has gone ahead anyway.

Prior to the release of the iPhone 4S it had been suggested that this stopgap replacement would be quite comprehensively shunned as the temporary iPhone 5 gap-filler it was pegged as. In reality in fact, the iPhone 4S went on to set all-new sales records across the board and continues to be a runaway success even today.

So, can we really blame Apple if they decided to take their sweet time with the iPhone 5 release?

Of course not, so for now it really is back to the drawing board once again when it comes to potential release dates in 2012. The iPhone 5 will not come along until iPhone 4-mania has ended and the time is well and truly right, though this doesn’t mean we cannot hazard a decent guess.

Either an iPad 3 or iPad 2S is destined to arrive in March, September is pegged as the likely launch month of the new iPod Touch range, which leaves a suspicious gap around the early summer WWDC timeframe….
