iPad 3: No Significant Revamp?
There’s no question that the iPad 3 is set to be released sometime this year. Customers expecting a new, improved and totally different iPad 3 may be disappointed if rumors posted by iLounge are correct.
The report from the Apple-centric website (supposedly culled from last week’s CES 2012 extravaganza) says the new iPad might not be that different after all. iLounge particularly noted subtle differences in the upcoming tablet’s body, screen and camera size, not much to get many people excited.
In fact, the changes are apparently mostly cosmetic in nature. Other conflicting reports have speculated drastic changes for the so-called iPad 3, but according to iLounge, Apple might as well call the new iPad a 2S or 2HD due to the lack of groundbreaking updates.
Similarities between the existing iPad 2 and its sequel include headphones, speaker and button designs. However, iLounge stated that most accessories available for the iPad 2 may work with the new model.
Most sources estimate the iPad 3 to be released between early February and April 2012, and it is likely this could be pulled off in time to commemorate the birthday of late Apple founder Steve Jobs.
That said, many consumers and analysts are still hopeful Apple’s follow-up will be a major departure from its predecessor.
