ipad7 iPad 3 Release Date Imminent? Is it possible that after all the rumor and hearsay, Apple is finally going to reveal a definite release schedule for the iPad 3?

That’s what Japanese tech blog Macotakara is implying in its latest report. According to a source in America and another one in Asia, Apple is preparing to make the iPad 3’s release date known at an event they are organizing in the first half of February.

There was not much else uncovered by Macotakara, especially in terms of new features. Last year, it was believed that the new iPad would be the first tablet to include Siri, Apple’s innovative virtual assistant application. Instead, it was the iPhone 4S that debuted the app in the fourth quarter of 2011.

According to the blog site, the iPad 3’s operating system will be known as iOS 5.1 and not iOS 6. Other sources have also reported this year that the new iPad 3 may be equipped with a quad-core CPU and long-term evolution, or LTE. These rumors, like all other information on the iPad 3’s supposed features, have yet to be definitely confirmed by anybody at Apple.

If the Macotakara scoop is accurate, this will mark the third year that Apple is announcing release date for the iPad in a different month. Apple announced the first iPad’s release in January 2010 while its sequel, the iPad 2, was taken off wraps in March the following year.

Also, there are other tablets that may be unveiled in the first quarter of 2012, which may very well add to Apple’s sense of urgency to announce a certain release schedule.
