iPhone 4S Statistics Reveal Interesting Trends
Numbers released on Monday by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) showed a few trends worth highlighting regarding the iPhone 4S.
According to the survey, 36 percent of Apple iPhone 4S buyers came from a different operating system and 21 percent of customers who opted for an Apple iPhone 4S chose the 64-gigabyte version. This 64-GB iPhone 4S has the most internal storage available in the storied smartphone’s history.
CIRP’s recent survey shows a slight increase over a previous survey done by Piper Jaffray last October 2011. The poll was run on the very same day the iPhone 4S became available, and 19 percent of the people surveyed stated a preference for the maximum-capacity iPhone.
Another survey done by CIRP during that same time frame showed 18 percent of respondents migrating over from Android, Blackberry and other operating systems. Apparently this number has steadily increased since the iPhone 4S’ release, and has since been doubled based on CIRP’s new report.
In other CIRP figures, America’s three largest carriers – AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless – have similar market shares compared to the previous survey. It was also pointed out that T-Mobile and other carriers which still do not carry the iPhone are losing customers to the Big Three.
It seems that many are making the switch to a carrier that offers Apple’s signature smartphone rather than sticking it out with a provider that doesn’t.
Data was compiled from an initial pool of over six thousand respondents, all of whom were iPhone 4S buyers in the last quarter of 2011. 365 people were chosen as qualified for the final results.
