iPhone 5 Due for Summer Release?
Sources from Apple subcontractor Foxconn have told tech blog 9to5Mac that the upcoming Apple iPhone 5 is scheduled to start production, and likely to be launched this summer.
According to 9to5Mac’s leads, some of the features we can expect from the iPhone 5 include a four-inch screen and a different design from either the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S. They added that these versions being mooted are just prototypes, and that there are no final versions available at this point.
Many have observed that 9to5Mac’s Apple product rumors have been pretty much hit-and-miss. Also, some analysts find it hard to believe a new iPhone may be out so soon, since the iPhone 4S was released just last October.
In terms of business and sales figures, fourth quarter iPhone sales have been confirmed at more than 37 million, signifying that the similarity between the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S did not deter many customers from buying the newer model.
With such encouraging sales, is Apple really planning to release the iPhone 5 this early in the year?
Other tech experts believe that the company may prepare for the launch, with long-term evolution support the new ‘must-have’ feature in smartphones. The iPhones have yet to include 4G LTE and other rumors are pointing to the new iPhone as Apple’s initial foray into the LTE world.
So is a summer release too soon or just right? We may likely find out the answer as we move further on in the year.
