iphone 5 pic 300x212 iPhone 5 Release Date – Mobile Flash to be Withdrawn – All Eyes on AndroidWhen and where the iPhone 5 release date comes about next year, it will of course, like all iPhone and iPad releases so far, bring a device without Mobile Flash Player. However, the difference in this instance will be the fact that all new Android devices arriving next year will also be minus-Flash, as Adobe has officially announced that Mobile Flash is to be discontinued.

Instead, Adobe has stated that mobile manufacturers and developers should rely on HTML5 for their needs, which is of course what Apple has been advocating as an alternative for many years now. Furthermore, the news means that Flash will of course most likely meet its demise on the desktop, as developers are certain to cease its use altogether so as to promote across the board device compatibility.

This is not just a victory for Apple, but indeed for the late Steve Jobs in particularly, who was known to publically rally against Flash for being a so-called buggy, outdated and resource draining technology of yesteryear. Needless to say, this puts the iPhone 5 back into prime contention when it comes to fending off all other comers, given the fact that the Flash advantage many Android devices had, albeit an imperfect one, will no longer come into question.

Of course, the question now begs as to exactly which angle of attack Android developers will choose once their technology of choice becomes defunct, which should prove incredibly interesting from both a consumer and marketing point of view as 2012 unfolds.
