Is Sprint Ready to Adopt the Galaxy Nexus?
Recent advertisements and blog posts have touted the Galaxy Nexus as the next featured phone for Sprint. In the light of Sprint’s upcoming LTE plans, how true could these be?
The announcements posted on Engadget and other blog sites indicate that CNET is currently carrying Sprint ads for the Galaxy Nexus. This comes right after Dan Hesse, CEO of Sprint, made his own announcement regarding the telecommunication network’s mid-year long-term evolution plans.
Despite the excitement these ads have built, they have been removed almost as quickly as they were posted.
This now leaves several questions as to whether these ads are genuine or not. According to them, some of the features worth mentioning in the Sprint Galaxy Nexus include a 4.65-inch, 1280 x 720 Super AMOLED display identical to Verizon’s edition, and a 1.5-GHz microprocessor. The most anticipated feature so far, barring the legitimacy of the ads, would be the inclusion of the Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich system with the phone.
Many observers have expressed their doubts over the feasibility of the Galaxy Nexus later on in the year, considering the numerous cellular phone trade shows to follow. In the view of many, if Sprint indeed waits until the middle of the year to launch the Galaxy Nexus, it is quite possible there would be a smartphone or two that would supersede it in terms of features and benefits.
Nobody will be surprised if this rings true, as smartphone technology keeps on evolving at such a rapid pace.
