Mercedes to bring old car for Monaco GP

Mercedes engineers did some major changes on W01 for the Spanish race, but it appeared with these changes the car wouldn’t perform good in Monte-Carlo. Last weekend seven-time F1 champion Schumacher had a better race with the new car, but the old one fits Rosbergs style better.

Director of Mercedes GP team, Nick Fry declared to Autosport magazine that they brought a newly developed to Barcelona, but they will use the previous car in upcoming Monaco GP.

„We developed a special suspension for Monaco GP and also there will be some special changes on the car. The car we had in Barcelona wouldn’t be able to take hairpin bend” – Fry claimed.

In Barcelona engineers have raised  the wheelbase of the car to gain better balance, which modification resulted in a 4th place for Schumacher, but Rosberg didn’t perform well.

Experts say that in Monaco short-wheelbased cars will be competitive because of the tight hairpin bend and Rascasse.
