Motorola Droid Razr to Face Serious Competition from Galaxy Nexus

13 Motorola DROID RAZR 300x230 Motorola Droid Razr to Face Serious Competition from Galaxy NexusVarious reports and insider chatter last week concerned the upcoming Nexus Prime Vs Motorola Droid Razr battle, though it has to be said that the latter of the two was always going to be something of a massive underdog given its use of Android 2.3 Gingerbread rather than 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich – which of course is set to take centre stage at a launch event imminently.

According to Motorola Mobility, the new Razr will indeed be featuring the newest version of Android, which is technically true right now, but will not be in the next 24 hours. Of course, there is always the distinct possibility that the Razy will have its OS upgraded in the very near future, which is particularly likely given the fact that it is powered by the same 1.2GHz processor as the Nexus Prime.

Motorola have pegged the new Razr as a highly ‘sturdy’ Smartphone across the board, packing Gorilla Glass and Kevlar fiber as standard. Measures have also been taken with regard to the internal components so as to protect the Razr from an array of everyday spills and splashes.

Measuring in at just a hair’s breadth over 7mm thick, the Razr is also arguably the thinnest Motorola to date – thinner in fact than the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the iPhone 4S. The device is also the first from the manufacturer to feature a Super AMOLED display.

Of course, the Razy is facing serious competition from both the Nexus Prime and the iPhone 4S, though the device which turns out to be the favorite of the consumer may once again be the result of the onboard operating system rather than the usual spec-sheet.
