New Amazon Kindle Tablet made Official
It might be called quite simply the ‘Amazon Kindle’ but that really is where the similarity to the Kindle we already know and love ends. In this case, the new device sports a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen to display content in full color, and just so happens to be powered by Android.
Rumors that Amazon were all but ready to launch their own tablet PC have been doing the rounds for quite some time now and on this occasion, the whispers appear to have been bang on the money. Not only have a privileged few finally been able to see the fabled device, but they’ve also got their hands on one.
Needless to say, the odds of the new Kindle being huge are a pretty safe bet.
Sadly there are not pictures to offer at present, but those unable to wait can divert their attention to the BlackBerry PlayBook as the similarity is rather vast.
The current device appears to be running a nifty single-core chip, but if and when the 10 inch version comes about, this will be replaced with a dual-core alternative. 6GB of storage is hardly mind blowing, but given the fact that the new Kindle is set to be a largely Cloud device, there really is little reason for much more than this.
10 hours of battery life certainly puts the Kindle in line with the competition and with an estimated price of $250, may well add up to a packages with more chance of de-throning the big dogs than we’ve seen for quite some time.
