New Facebook Smartphone May Feature Android OS
The first rumors came to light that Facebook, the biggest social networking site on the Internet, is actually preparing to launch a new mobile phone, a reasonable device to get closer to it’s users. Till now, not much has been revealed about the new device which is normal in such cases.
According to sources FB has ordered the hardwares of the phone from an unknown manufacturer. Rumours say that the a highly re-created version of Android could be the main operating system on the smartphone and this may be a surprise for lot of people as Facebook and Google are known as rivals in the online scene.
Experts think that Facebook is simply jealous, and the company would like to improve its traditional reputation by developing its branded phone, the same way as its big rival did. The customized version of the OS may feature several services of Facebook such as the contacts and it could be smoothly integrated with Android’s built-in facilities.
Currently, according to rumours only two persons – the former project manager of Chrome OS, Matthew Papakipos and the creator of some big Facebook apps, Joe Hewitt – are working on the new smartphone.
After all, it could be a wise move from Facebook in order to increase their users list. This way Facebook may reach those people who simply don’t make much use of online social networks due to lack of their computer using skills.
