New Samsung Galaxy S2 TV Ad Directly Attacks iPhone 4S
Samsung have released a new TV which takes a direct swipe at rival company Apple, by depicting a caricature of iPhone customers waiting in lines outsides stores. The new commercial for the Samsung Galaxy S2 made its debut online and is set to begin standard TV airing on Thanksgiving, according to the latest reports.
The ad opens by focusing on groups of people waiting outside stores across the U.S, which is of course a reference to the way in which Apple product launches generate such hysteria and buyer interest. One individual claims to be so ‘amped’ that he could wait in line for three weeks, while another celebrates that fact that ‘9 hours down’ they are almost reaching the door.
A separate individual adds a further blow to the current string of reported battery problem from iPhone 4S customers, suggesting that ‘blogs are saying the battery looks sketchy” while wearing trademark white earbuds.
Another common complaint was also brought up, with one line-waiter questioning exactly how people will be able to recognize the new device if it looks exactly the same as the old one.
In a parting shot, the commercial closes by stating that “The next big thing is already here.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time Apple and Samsung have traded blows one way or the other, specifically in relation to the iPhone and the Galaxy S2. In the UK, the two companies were embroiled in a fierce argument regarding who had the right to advertise their product as the thinnest Smartphone on the market – which Apple subsequently won in light of a couple of ‘bulges’ at the thickest point of the S2.
Needless to say, it appears the rivalry is once again due to step up a gear over the next month or so, when the Samsung Galaxy Nexus carrying Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich makes its official debut in the US, following a UK version showing that both devices clearly outperform each other in various key areas.
