Nokia Lumia 800 and 710 Release Date and Specs, Running Windows Mango
The deal between Nokia and Microsoft to work together on smartphones finally has a tangible outcome today with the announcement of the Nokia Lumia 800 and 710 phones. The announcement was made by Sephen Elop who is Nokia’s CEO.
The phone will run Windows Phone Mango Operating System. Nokia has made big bets on utilization of the operating system. Microsoft has historically not performed well against the likes of iOS and Android and the world is watching to see whether the teamup with formidable Nokia will make any difference.
The Lumias will be released in November. For the UK there is a specific release date of November 16 for the Lumia 800 and 710.
The Lumia 800 is not a high-end phone. It will sport only a single core processor, clocked at 1.46GHZ. It will have a 3.7 inch screen with AMOLED technology. There will be an 8 MP camera and 16GB of internal storage. Nokia will offer 25GB of free storage in its SkyDive cloud.
Pricing is expected to be $580 in the US and 420 EUR elsewhere.
The phone will come with sophisticated contacts management, internet access via IE 9, a fast track to Facebook and other popular Windows based apps.
