nokia lumia 800 85 Nokia Lumia 800 Sales Fall Short of ExpectationsDubbed as the make or break handset from the Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia, the Lumia 800 is set to sell less than its target. Sources say, that Nokia will only be able to sell 500 000 to a million Nokia Lumia smartphone by the holidays.

As compared to Apple that took in 1 million pre-orders for the iPhone 4S in a single day, Nokia’s Lumia 800 will only be hitting the 1 million sales target by Christmas. As sad as this may be for a former cell phone market leader, this is something that the guys at the Nokia headquarters have to deal with.

The sales number, according to reports is far lower than previous estimates. With this data in mind, industry experts believe that the Lumia 800 is not a comeback handset that will bring down the reign of Apple.

To make things worse, the Nokia Lumia 800 was already on sale in some parts of Europe as early as Wednesday last week. With all these information in mind, Nokia’s shares closed at 8.8% on the Helsinki bourse.

Stephen Elop, Nokia’s CEO said earlier this year that the company will do better with Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system being adopted to Nokia’s upcoming smartphones.

Although a number of folks bought the Lumia 800, as it’s being advertised on the Xbox360 Dashboard, the company’s future is not yet secure according to the US technology investment bank Pacific Crest.
