US president Barack Obama wants guarantees for safe oil production in the Mexican Gulf but at the same time he emphasized that oil drilling won’t shut down.

On Saturday Obama announced in his online statement, that in the future coastal oil production will be allowed only, if there will be guarantees if such environmental pollution that happened in the Mexican Gulf won’t happen again.

Obama declared: in the next 6 months the examination board will submit a report to him about the crude oil catastrophe. The goal of establishing the examination board was to find out the root that caused the environmental disaster and to make suggestions for security and environmental precautions in order to prevent such catastrophes in the future.

According to analysts the oil catastrophe – which causing more and more environmental and economic damages – is taking a serious negative effect on Obama’s position just before the congressional election that will be held in November. Anyway, the chances of the Democrats are already lowered since the double digit unemployement rate is causing increasing dissatisfaction in the country.

The president has reported recently, tha he commanded a series of investigations since the inception of the oil catastrophe and he ordered a ban for further oil productions for 30 days.

However, Obama said that domestic oil and gas exploitations have to be continued since they cover 30% of the total production. In the future Mexican Gulf may play an important role in our energy-supply – Obama added.
