Obama to face tight congressional elections
Five months before the congresisonal elections in the United States, the Republicans took a significant advantage over the Democrats, – according to a fresh survey from Gallup Institute.
The interim congressional elections in the United States will be held on November 2, where all 435 representatives are going to be elected. The American Gallup Institute’s most recent poll shows that the Republicans are standing on 49 percent, 6 percents ahead of the Democrats. Gallup stated, that since 1950 this is the largest difference in percentage measured by Gallup.
According to Gallup, the Republicans who lost the presidential election in 2008, have improved 3 percentages in the last 3 weeks, while the Democrats fell by 4 percent. It’s partly due to the oil catastrophe that occured in the Gulf of Mexico, and the governmental responses which caused dissatisfications.
Analysts drew attention, that US president, Barack Obama’s popularity hit rock bottom, currently standing on 46 percent, which, though still not close to George Bush’s negative popularity record, it’s still very low.
The research also showed that 39 percent of Republican voters are excited about the elections in November, while this ratio is only 24 percent at the Democrats, and this apathy of voters can worsen the chances of of Obama’s party to win the elections.
In November, the American voters, besides electing the 435 representatives, will also decide about 36 senator places out of the 100, moreover several state governor is going to be elected as well.
