However, Pakistan has lifted ban from YouTube recently, authorities are going to block those contents on the video sharing platform which could be harmful for muslim people – stated the Pakistani Ministry of Interior. Facebook remains blocked.

Pakistan has restricted access to numerous websites on Saturday, including that Facebook profile which urged visitors to upload their home made portraits of prophet Muhammad. Lot of people supported the government’s decision, although others think that only harmful contents should be blocked instead of complete websites.

It seems Pakistani executives heard these demands and they finally lifted ban from YouTube. Though, harmful, blasphemous contents will remain blocked in the future, said Najibullah Malik, a secretary from the Pakistani Information Technology Ministry. The government is going to inform the new decision with the internet servivce providers and afterwards the acces to YouTube will be soon available. On Wednesday night YouTube was still blocked yet in Pakistan.

According to Malik, they won’t give access to Facebook and there won’t be change in  this matter till the court negotation at the end of this month. The majority of muslims evaluate the prohpet’s  any kind of representation as blashpemy. In 2006 viloence swept through Pakistan and other muslim countries when a Danish newspapers published caricatures of prophet Muhammad.
