Rodent steals the show at Obama’s press conference

Filed under: Business,The Big Stories |

A rodent just had his 1 minute fame when US president Barack Obama’s press conference started at Rose Garden on Friday.

Obama’s statement has just started when suddenly a rodent dashed out from the bushes to the president’s right and crossed the stage before disappearing between the plants.

It’s not known whether Obama noticed the creature, he didn’t react on the appearance of the unexpected visitor anyway.

Following the president’s comeback to the White House, reporters had a “war to the knife” debate whether the rodent was actually a mouse or a rat. Some of them would have sworn that it was a mole.

Later, an expert also joined the polemic.

“I would bar out that it was a rat” – biologist Russel Link, head of Washington State University Fish and Wildlife Department said. “The reason is that his tail wasn’t as long as his body” – he added.

After some further examination the biologist set out that it was an ordinary vole aka field mouse.

It is not the first time that in the White House and Rose Garden rodent was seen.

Last week cameramen just set up to record Obama’s statement about the oil catastrophe at the Gulf of Mexico when a rodent was seen crossing the famous garden.
