Rumour Report: iPad Mini to Follow iPad 3 Release
Rumours have started making the rounds again regarding the supposed iPad Mini. Basically, it is an iPad on a much smaller scale.
In spite of the fact that former CEO Steve Jobs had made it clear that he wants Apple to not do anything about a much smaller version of the iPad, it seems the company is trying to do just the opposite. It appears – after Amazon’s blazing success with its recent Kindle Fire release – Apple is rethinking its previous stand on the matter of smaller tablets.
More options, better sales. With the advent of tablets coming out of nowhere, Apple will be hedging out in creating an iPad Mini. If DigiTimes be asked of it, they will suggest that Apple supply chain insiders have indicated the mega brand’s intention of taking that previous idea into reality has some back to it. To insure better sales, Apple is trying to provide to its consumers and the would-be patrons a more economical and smaller iPad.
The iPad earned the moniker, “iPad Mini”, for its supposed 7.8-inch screen size. Following Amazon’s 7-inch Kindle, Apple is pre-supposing that with the Mini they might be able to continue heading up the tablet market share.
LG Electronics and AU Optronics are the suppliers in question for the creation of the iPad Mini. Rumours even went to as far as stating that both companies have already sent in the prototype of the said device. The screen resolution of the iPad Mini is said to equal that of the iPad 2, thus, allowing better adaptability and installation of the iOS to run on the device.
The iPad Mini is rumoured for a last quarter release by 2012. Production will start after iPad 3’s official release.
