Samsung Galaxy Nexus – A New Breed of Android Smartphone
From the very moment the might Samsung Galaxy Nexus is powered up, it is clear and easy to see that this is a device built around Google that is unlike any to have ever come before. The reason for this of course being the way in which the lock screen can be unlocked simply by showing the Nexus your face…
Facial recognition is without doubt one of the coolest, if slightly flawed features of the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Problems have already been noted regarding the way in which the technology falls below par in low light, though users can always find their way in by using PIN codes when the facial recognition fails…which it will.
Of course, a photograph has also been found to work just as well as the real face of the owner, which may amount to a slight security issue but is in its own right a rather fun trick.
With regard to overall prowess, the specs of the Nexus are widely known and the reputation of ICS no secret to say the least – the long and short of the matter is that this is simply the greatest Android device ever released so far and worthy of its already huge acclaim. As such, the only question that remains is that as to when the US release date is finally likely to come about.
Sadly, this remains quite a big question to say the least, as with the UK and European launch having already come about, not to mention the expected November 17th and 21st release dates without so much as a peep from the makers, its back to the drawing board for educated estimates.
As it stands, all eyes are now focused on December 8th…
