These would join the present Sprint Nexus S with 4G as the only phones so far to support the Google Wallet payment system.

The Galaxy Nexus, manufactured by South Korean electronics giants Samsung, was launched as the first-ever smartphone to feature Android’s latest Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.  As of the present, it is exclusively available to Verizon Wireless customers, having made its American debut last December 15.

Other features include a 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 4.65-inch Super AMOLED screen, long-term evolution (LTE) support and near-field communication (NFC).

The second phone, the LG Viper 4G, shall run on Android’s previous 2.3 Gingerbread OS. It also features NFC, which is an integral part of the Google Wallet technology. Its screen is slightly smaller at 4 inches and would also feature a 1.2 GHz processor under the hood. Front and rear cameras are available, with the rear one boasting 5 megapixel resolution.

According to Sprint consumer product marketing director, Trevor Van Norman, the carrier is hoping to feature NFC technology in all its LTE smartphones moving forward. Additionally, Van Norman confirmed that Sprint will get a share of any profits incurred when users take advantage of special offers such as coupons via Google Wallet.

Release dates on Sprint have yet to be announced for both phones. Google will be announcing pricing schemes once the release date for both handsets becomes imminent.
