A company spokesperson has revealed by email that the Galaxy Nexus will indeed be arriving in the US before the close of 2011, though an official, specific date has not yet been set.

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-toting Galaxy Nexus has already received massive levels of acclaim and praise from across Europe and the UK, following something of a surprise release earlier this month. Generally speaking, the reception for both the device as a whole and the latest operating system from Google has been warm and abundant, though some have suggested the new Android 4.0 experience may still not be quite enough to persuade floating voters away from the iOS camp.

It is highly unusual for the UK to see a major Smartphone launch without the US release date at least being confirmed, which has led some to speculate whether a degree of alteration or rebranding may be the cause – as was the case with Samsung Galaxy S2.

Of course, when the S2 finally did make its rather late appearance in the US, all was forgiven and the wait was proven as well and truly worthwhile.
