Samsung Galaxy S2 Takes Consumer Report Title – iPhone 4S Lags Behind in Fifth Place
The unstoppable Samsung Galaxy S2 has been ranked top by US Consumer Reports, surpassing the likes of all other high-end Smartphones including the iPhone 4S from Apple. Such is likely to add further weight to the runaways success that is the S2, as the reports are known to be highly influential when it comes to consumer purchase decisions.
Samsung released the S2 in Korea back in April this year, though it took until September for the device to land on US soil – followed shortly by the iPhone 4S in October.
The latest Consumer Reports base their rankings on various US mobile carriers, with the Samsung Galaxy S2 taking the coveted top spot for three of the big four – Sprint Nextel, AT&T and T-Mobile, though not Verizon Wireless.
Apple’s iPhone 4S on the other hand ranked no better than fourth or fifth across the big four carriers, which is of course a surprisingly poor performance given the popularity of the device and indeed the general standard set by Apple.
Meanwhile, news has found its way into circulation suggesting that the S2 Skyrocket, that being the AT&T version of the device, is well and truly on its way to an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update sometime during the early stages of 2012. This would make the S2 the first device in the world to follow in the footsteps of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Nexus to be afforded the revered upgrade, adding yet another notch to an already impressive belt.
