Samsung Galaxy S2: The Phone to Beat

samsung galaxy s2a Samsung Galaxy S2: The Phone to BeatApple has always had a tight grip on the smartphone market. Its banner product on this particular end – the iPhone – was like a hit movie franchise of its own that kept on sprouting an instalment one after another. Its multiple editions were no bleak flashes in the pan. They lorded over.

…Up until eight months ago.

Samsung Galaxy S2 came and nabbed the top spot from the iOS-based phone. The Korean company managed to create an upset this year against Apple’s iPhone 4S by becoming the phone of the year. For eight consecutive months, the Android phone trumped its Apple counterpart in both sales performance and buzz this year.

uSwitch, a website that tracks smartphone-related internet searches and sales in the UK, certified that the Galaxy S2 Android phone indeed outdid the iPhone in both facets.

Ernest Doku, the website’s tech guru, expressed that we should not be fast to think that the iPhone is really losing steam. The phone still continues to get massive demand however retailers fail to meet them accordingly.

However, he was also quick enough to quip that it wasn’t an easy fight for the Samsung Galaxy S2. For whatever it’s worth, it owns the smartphone of the year award.

The Galaxy S2 phone won this face-off by providing better specs to the consumer. It will be interesting to see how things will turn out next year with Apple coming out with a new iPhone 5, and some other new entrants into the smartphone market rumble.
