Sony Xperia S Set to Battle It Out with Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Nexus
Sony presented its smartphone offering for the year at the recent CES. Sony Xperia S is expected to square out with Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Nexus in the market.
2012 will see Sony’s fledgling attempt in soaring with and against the big players in the smartphone industry without the Ericsson attachment. With sole proprietory over the Xperia, Sony is hoping to make it big.
The Sony Xperia S will be the first high-end smartphone from the Japan-headquartered tech firm. The phone consists of a 4.3-inch screen matched with 720p resolution display.
In contrast to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the Xperia S holds just the same screen resolution; however, it proffers a much smaller screen size. It can be noted the Sony phone is 0.3-inch smaller in the least. Hence, the Xperia S boasts of it being able to provide better pixels per inch than the Galaxy Nexus.
The phone is powered by a 1.5GHz MSM8260 dual-core processor. It runs on the Android Gingerbread platform but is also suitable for an ICS update.
The Xperia S showcases 1GB RAM, 12-megapixel “Exmor R” rear-facing camera and a front counterpart as well. The phone has a 32GB on-board storage which is extendable courtesy of a MicroSD slot.
Sony announced that quite a few more Xperia prototypes will be making their way through mainstream news by Q1 2012.
