In this instance, it has been none other than the CEO of the company who has afforded the world a sneak peek at what lies beneath, suggesting in no uncertain terms that a lower cost iPhone 4S is well and truly on its way before the end of the year. While exciting enough a prospect this is in its own right, it is nonetheless a useful tidbit of information when it comes to the iPhone 5.

The simple fact of the matter is that common sense dictates that if Apple were to release only the iPhone 4S this year and nothing else, it would have happened long before now given the fact that it would not essentially be an upgrade. Couple this with the fact that Apple have been seen installing equipment around various Sprint locations and it soon becomes apparent that something big is indeed on the horizon – much bigger than a downgraded iPhone 4.

As and when the iPhone 5 does eventually see the light of day, Sprint is pegged as being the only US carrier that will be offering unlimited data plans, which is likely to prove enough to see current AT&T and Verizon devotees jumping ship once and for all, cementing the Sprint name as a true competitor in the industry.
