Surprising details of the Kaczynski-tragedy
Russian experts believe when the tragedy of Polish president, Lech Kaczynski’s plane has occured, Polish Air Force head commander, Andrzej Blasik and Mariusz Kazana, leader of diplomacy protocol service both have stayed in the cockpit. In addition, the TU-154 plane was flying 15 meters below the level of the tarmac, Russian newspapers posted yesterday.
Tatiana Anodina, reviewing the first results of the investigation has expressed: they managed to identify one of the person staying in the cockpit and for the other one they asked for help from the Poles.
According to Russian authorities as per current regulations that are valid in most countries, unauthorized people cannot stay in cockpit, however Polish experts think this regulation is only valid for civil flights and the president’s plane was a military flight.
Aleksey Morozov, lead technician of MAK stated that the plane first hit a 10 meters high birch 1100 meters away from the end of the tarmac but at the same time the plane was 15 meters below from the ideal level.
18 seconds before the impact a safety warning system got activated which alarmed pilots to lift the airplane, but they didn’t react for unknown reasons.
It is believed, the pilot was desperately looking for the ground and just missed the dispatch signal saying immediately rise the plane. The Polish side argued about that the instruction came too late.
Thursday’s papers say that the cockpit door was opened and this caused noise. This assumption will be further analysed with the help of black box recordings.
Polish experts maintain that the Russian side did not sufficiently evaluate the role of the airport dispatcher, whose instructions were received with some delay.
Meanwhile, Russian experts have confirmed that those boarding facilities are not available at Severniy airport in Smolensk, which are used in civilian airports.
Severniy is partly a military airport and partly an experimental field of the local airplane factory and normally pilots never activate automatic mode for landing.
The airport was inspected before the reception of the Polish president and a similar airplane to TU-154 was landed there on March 16. Later the decision has been made that the airport will be prepared for the reception of the president’s aircraft but only if the plane is in perfect mechanical condition and the weather is good.
An hour before the planned arrival the weather has suddenly changed for bad and the area they entered was covered with dense fog. The Polish crew wasn’t informed about the situation in Smolensk before the take-off. They were only been notified about the fog, when they approached the are of local air controllers. However the pilots were warned about the situation by YAK 40’s crew many times before.
The Polish president and his wife, leaders of the Polish army, the president of the Polish Central Bank plus many prominent representatives and politicans were travelling to the Katyn memorial when the air catastrophe happened just before landing near western Smolensk. All 96 people on the board died in the catastrophe.
