T-Mobile to Launch Nokia Lumia 710 in Early 2012
January 11, 2012 will mark the decided launch of Nokia’s Lumia 710 with T-Mobile as the first running operator of the product. The Lumia 710 is a low-end smartphone that runs on Windows Phone OS, sporting a 3.7-inch display, a 5 megapixel camera, and operates on a Qualcomm 1.4 GHz Snapdragon processor.
Other features include the Nokia Drive, a voice-guided navigation app, and it also carries Microsoft apps like Bing Search with voice activation, Xbox Live and the Windows Phone Office Hub.
The Nokia Lumia 710 has already made its presence known in other parts of the globe. T-Mobile is the carrier which will be officially launching the product in the US, following a New York City event arranged specifically for the said product release. While the Lumia 710 is equipped with Windows Phone 7.5, it’s still expected to be overshadowed by the more sophisticated Lumia 800. The Nokia Lumia 800 is scheduled to hit US shelves early next year.
Nokia has been leveling up its campaign to win over the US market with the development of devices that are cheaper versions of smartphones with more or less the same features. The two Lumia models are expected to pave the way for Nokia’s US invasion, with their seemingly affordable packaging.
The Lumia 710 in particular, is approximated to cost only around $50 following a $50 mail-in rebate and accompanied by a two-year contract. Whether this move will improve Nokia’s US smartphone market standings still remains to be seen.
