The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Capturing the SUV Market
The Wrangler can handle soccer moms and it can also do what SUV’s were originally intended to do, which is go places that mini-vans don’t dare to go. The Wrangler can climb steep hills, in fact it can handle up to 44 degrees of slope.
But the steeper slope it has climbed the past two years is the market share curve where it has moved from holding onto 2% to pushing others out of the way to take a full 15.8% of the segment.
This year’s models start at $22,000 and those loaded with features top out at $10,000 more.
The 2012 Wrangler has more power than its ancestors now delivering 285 horses. It is powered by a 3.6-liter engine that gets 21 mpg, not bad for a V6 with this kind of power. Its off-road features include 10.5 inches of clearance. While the SUV has a lot of capabilities that make it fun off the highway, it also has standard internal features available that mean you don’t have to sacrifice car comforts just because you abandon the comforts of your home.
