Will Capello recall Beckham?
Despite Fabio Capello’s statement from two weeks ago – saying he no longer counts on David Beckham in the England national team - now it seems he changed his mind and Becks may have another chance to prove, he is still good enough to be included in England’s squad.
The Italian coach annoounced lately that he doesn’t count on the 35-year-old player anymore, as he is too old now. Back then he added, that hopefully there will be an opportunity for Beckham to say goodbye for the team in a friendly game which would be specially organized for him.
The former England captain – who recently recovered from a serious injury and now playing in the United States – had 115 caps in the English national team and ranks second among most capped English players, right behind legendary goalkeeper, Peter Shilton, who have 125 caps.
„Young players are the future, as we are preparing for European Championship qualifiers, but we are aware of the skills of our veteran players too” – said Capello on Sunday. „No one is excluded from the team. David must play first, then we will see. I think he knows, that his possibilities are limited, but the door isn’t closed for him.” – he added.
