There is little doubt now that Apple’s next major release would be the iPad 3, the latest and most likely greatest tablet to be released by the Cupertino, CA electronics giant. But who would’ve guessed that Apple’s first post-iPad 3 release might be featuring a newer and better MacBook Pro?
That’s what Taiwanese tech blog Digitimes is suggesting, as the iPad 3’s prospective March release may be followed up with a new MacBook Pro. Both devices are rumored to feature Retina display technology, thus raising the bar in terms of display quality. Retina display, as per Apple, would boast of at least 326 pixels per inch, and would make videos, photos and other displayable material even clearer and less pixilated.
Digitimes added that the MacBook Pro is targeted for a second quarter 2012 release, which could be any time in the three months following the iPad 3’s likely release schedule.
According to another tech site, MacRumors, the new MacBook is slated to be Apple’s most powerful weapon against Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system. That said, there doesn’t appear to be any news about a new operating system for the MacBook – currently, newer MacBooks operate on Mac OS X Lion 10.7 out of the box.
Speaking of Microsoft, it has been speculated that Windows 8 will also be available for tablets once released. This presents Apple with another formidable challenger as the release of the iPad 3 nears.
Currently, the iPad’s top competitors are mostly a variety of Android-based tablets, and newer versions of these slates may ship with the latest Android platform, Ice Cream Sandwich.
